We are a very small in-home cattery recently relocated to Northeast Mississippi from Southeast Wisconsin.  We packed up all the cats, kittens, kids and other animals and made several noisy U-Haul trips down to follow my husband's company.  It took a while with the economy to sell our home but we can only hope things get better for everyone.  In the meantime, we are living in a tiny rental on lots of wooded land in the-middle-of-nowhere-mississippi.  The area is gorgeous and the weather is amazing.  We are now presented with the opportunity to build outdoor enclosures and allow the cats some outside entertainment.  Lots of bugs here to chase and torment!!!  The cats have settled in nicely and have all acclimated well.  As we get more litters, we keep some babies and we have grown a bit and are in process of getting the cats their own building mostly for their health and safety.
The younger ones will remain in the house with our family and visitors to ensure a healthy mind and great socialization.  The breeding cats will now have the opportunity to lounge in the sun and dream of chasing the squirrels.  It will keep their minds active and an active cat mind leads to a healthy cat.  We are a family of five children, mostly all grown now but several are still at home or have returned for a bit.  They constantly play with the cats.  We love each baby born here and some are very hard to part with, each child has their favorites.  We love living with bengals and each litter born is as exciting as the last.  There is some sadness involved in breeding but mostly their is amazement.  Each birth is like Christmas morning with all the aniticipation of "what your gonna get".  My husband was never a cat lover, but now he has his own special favorites.  Each time my girls come home from the military for visits, they choose a new favorite.  Watching them play with each other and reach points in the house you never think about is amazing.  They can jump atop a door and balance without a flinch.  They turn switches on and have turned lights off on the kids.  They learn how to turn on the water and some have a fascination with flushing the toilet.  All have an uncontrollable desire to destroy the toilet paper and any other paper left unattended.  They leave cabinets open and swim in the dog's water bowl.  They try to work door knobs but mine have not totally gotten it down, tho i have heard of some bengals who have.  They help with the groceries on a return from the store and pick what they want and run.  They have compulsive stealing issues and will not share their hiding places.  You will have to come across your treasures on accident.  None of mine care for coffee but they will steal ice from your drink, most of the time tipping it over.  Then the game of ice hockey is on!!!  They always have something to say and insist on the last word, a few last words....pity the bug who enters a bengal home...  Each cat is so different and yet they have many similar qualities.  They are very active and athletic and noone should expect otherwise or think they can change a bengal's mind.  Watching a pack of them run through the house is such an awesome site, all the spots and squiggles blurring together.  It does make you realize their wild heritage.  Though they have an exotic wild look, they are some of the sweetest cats you will ever come across.
Above picture of four kittens in their very fuzzy camouflage stage.  It is hard to see their patterns from the front as the fuzzy guard hairs make them look washed out.  They only get better with age when the guard hairs fall out and their colors get bolder.
A dog sits waiting in the cold autumn sun,
Too faithful to leave, too frightened to run.

He's been here for days now, with nothing to do,
But sit by the road, waiting for you.

He can't understand why you left him that day.
He thought you and he were stopping to play.

He's sure you'll be back, and that's why he stays.
How long will he suffer? How many more days?

His legs have grown weak, his throat's parched and dry,
He's sick now from hunger and falls, with a sigh.

He lays down his head and closes his eyes,
I wish you could see how a waiting dog dies.

PLEASE, LOVE YOUR ANIMALS....

We love our wildlife!!!  Looky what we found on our walk!
